It doesn't take a team of professors led by a Nobel Prize-winning physicist to see that the tax-payer funded stimulus has had little tangible effect on the economy or on the bottom-line of job creation, but I guess some Nobel prize winners see nothing but good times ahead this summer as the Obama Regime plans a "Recovery Summer" to celebrate the gains and accomplishments created from the last go-round.
But that's not all, of course. Since it worked so well the last time, Obama is once again seeking taxpayer money from Congress to extend programs from the last stimulus bill.
This is especially important now because there are tens of thousands of workers in the Gulf area alone who are about to join the unemployment rolls if King Obama doesn't lift his moratorium on offshore drilling. I think that the Census Bureau is still taking applications so that the Feds can continue to inflate job numbers, though, so take heart if you're about to lose your job on an oil rig. And don't worry, they'll hire you even if you have a record.

Pass Me A Ration!
Can we please get socialism going here as soon as possible?
Venezuela is clearly the paradise that the U.S. could be, and I want to live the exciting lifestyle of waiting for my two-minute afternoon shower and electricity rationing as soon as possible!
What is it that lefties see in these socialized and/or communist nations that they want to repeat in the United States? Oh yes, centralized government power and an elitism that they could revel in. Chavez isn't having his power rationed, I guarantee it.
In the sixth month of his presidency, Obama has turned an economic downturn into an economic disaster, taking over and trashing entire companies, and driving the nation deep into deficit spending expected to pass 10 trillion dollars.
Abroad, Obama seems to have no other mode except to continue on with his endless campaign, confusing speechmaking with diplomacy. It is natural enough that Obama, who built his entire campaign on high profile public speeches reported on by an adoring press, understands how to do nothing else but that.
Ego driven photo op appearances and clueless treatment of foreign dignitaries
While the press is still chewing over Obama’s Cairo speech, this celebrity style coverage ignores the fact that Obama’s endless world tour is not actually accomplishing anything. Instead his combination of ego driven photo op appearances and clueless treatment of foreign dignitaries have alienated many of America’s traditional allies. Those who aren’t being quietly angry at Obama, like Brown, Merkel or Netanyahu, instead think of him as as absurdly lightweight, as Sarkozy, King Abdullah or Putin do.
While his officials carry out their dirty economic deeds, Obama responds to any and every crisis as if it were a Mickey Rooney and Judy Garland musical, with a cry of, “Let’s put on a show.†Thus far Obama has put on “shows†across America, Europe and the Middle East. And what the adoring media coverage neglects to cover, is that Obama’s shows have solved absolutely nothing. They have served only as high profile entertainment.
Neither alienating America’s traditional allies, through a combination of arrogant bullying and ignorance, nor appeasing America’s enemies, has yielded any actual results. Nor does it seem likely to. Islamic terrorism is not going anywhere, neither are the nuclear threats from North Korea and Iran. While Obama keeps smiling, the global situation keeps growing more grim.
At home, if Obama was elected as depression era entertainment, the charm of his smiles and his constant appearances on magazine covers appear to be wearing thin on the American public. Despite the shrill attacks on Rush Limbaugh or the Republican Enemy of the Weak-- the Democratic party of 2009, is polling a lot like the Republican party of 2008. The Democrats have suddenly become the incumbents, and the only accomplishment they can point to is lavish deficit spending, often on behalf of the very same corporations and causes they once postured against.
The European Union Parliament’s swing to the right cannot be credited to Obama, though doubtlessly some European voters seeing socialist economic crisis management on display in the world’s richest country decided they wanted none of it, but it is part of a general turning against federalism. And Obama’s entire program is dependent on heavily entrenching federalism at the expense of individual and state’s rights. Yet that is precisely his Achilles heel with independent voters who are polling against more taxes and expanded government. And no amount of speeches by Obama can wish away his 18 czars or the national debt he has foisted on generation after generation of the American people. That leaves Obama with a choice between socialism and the independent voter. And thus far he has chosen socialism.
Obama’s tactic of hijacking Bush Administration era policies on the economy and the War on Terror, and exploiting them as Trojan horses to promote his own agenda, have left him coping with a backlash from his own party, as well as general Republican opposition.
His Czars are meant to function as the bones in an executive infrastructure accountable to no one, but a lack of accountability isn’t just another word for tyranny, but for incompetence. A functional chain of command is accountable at multiple levels if it is to function effectively. Obama’s White House by contrast is in a state of over-organized chaos, the sort of organized disorganization that undisciplined egotistical leftists naturally create for themselves, complete with multiple overlapping levels of authority and no one in charge but the man at the top, who’s too busy doing other things to actually be in charge.
Dennis Blair as National Intelligence, who collaborated with the Muslim genocide of Christians in East Timor, trying to muscle out the CIA to create his own intelligence network, is typical of the kind of chaos being spawned by every chief in an expanding government bureaucracy working to make sure that all the Indians answer to him. Similarly the National Security Council wrestling with the State Department, highlighted by Samantha Power getting her own specially created NSC position to butt heads with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, illustrates the state of conflict and chaos in American foreign affairs. A state of chaos so pervasive that incompetence has now become commonplace, and no one can even be found to double check the spelling of a Russian word that is meant to be the theme of American’s diplomatic reconstruction with Russia, or to pick out a gift for the visiting British Prime Minister.
Meanwhile on the economy, Obama exploited the ongoing bailouts, transforming them from bailouts into takeovers meant to shift the balance of power in what had been a democracy and socially engineer not only corporations, but the lives of ordinary Americans. But the public’s patience with corporate bailouts is at an end, most Americans were never happy with them to begin with, and want them to end. The death of Chrysler at the hands of Fiat and the UAW might look like a victory in the union ranks, but it doesn’t play too well outside Detroit. And tacking on CAFE standards that will kill the pickup truck and the SUV will badly erode Obama in the swing states, if exploited properly in 2010 and 2012. Despite the constant media barrage, orchestrated out of the White House, the public is growing disenchanted with the performance of Obama and the Democrats.
With unemployment booming and the economy dropping, the jobs aren’t there and the spending is out of control. Republicans today are polling better on ethics and the economy, than the Democrats are. That shows a trend which is likely to register in the mid-term elections in 2010, in the same way that the EU parliamentary elections served as a shock to the system.
In the opposition, Republicans are free to embrace the rhetoric of change, to champion reform and push libertarian ideas about the size and scope of government. In turn all Obama has is his celebrity fueled media spectacle world tour. A charade now serving as a parallel to the depression era entertainment that functioned as escapism in a dour time. But before long, it may be Obama that the American public will want to escape from.
Obama has tried to play Lincoln, Reagan, JFK and FDR-- but in the end he can only play himself, a shallow, manipulative and egotistical amateur who is in over his head, and trying to drag the country down with him. Obama’s White House is falling down and while the flashbulbs are still glittering and the parties are going on in D.C. and around the world, Obama and the Democratic Congress may be headed for a recession of their own.

Clap On!
On March 28th, at 1930 CST, all the world is supposed to shut off their lights in a show of solidarity against the evils of global warming.
The image above is what I guess is supposed to be a banner for the event. I find it ironic that it says that "your light switch is your vote", and the light switch in the image is flipped up.
Hill and I have talked about it, and we agree with how we're going to vote. For that hour, we are going to turn on every light in the house and enjoy whatever is on television that night on every TV in the house. Clearly, our vote is that...well, I don't really get what it is that we're voting for, to be perfectly frank. All I know is that I love electricity, air conditioning, and all the trappings of civilization.
It's funny that so-called progressives accuse people like me of standing in the way of progress while at the same time urging people to live like it's the stone age again.

It's great to see that there are so many people who still care enough about their nation and can see through the lies and destruction that Obama, his administration, and his Congress is wreaking on this nation.
Not being a big watcher of television news I have no idea how these events are being covered by the drive-by outlets, but I know that I haven't seen much mention of them online except on Twitter (the #tcot and #tlot feeds) and other places where Libertarians and Conservatives gather.
I'm not kidding here; I honestly believe that we are now on our way towards having a more powerful and, yes, totalitarian government than we've seen in U.S. history. Maybe Obama will follow his hero Lincoln's example further and suspend habeas corpus for U.S. citizens. Afterall, he could make the case that those of us who are speaking against him and his policies are "rebelling", right? Then lookout; maybe they'll set up some special prisons just for us rebels.
Sounds paranoid, right? I would have thought people sounded paranoid if they'd ever told me that the government was going to start setting and limiting the pay of private citizens. Targeted citizens no less, as I don't see them saying anything about athletes or movie stars. I would have thought people sounded paranoid if they'd ever told me that Congress was going to try and create a targeted punitive tax against private citizens who received a bonus from their company. Bailout or no bailout, that bothers the hell out of me.
Didn't want them to use that money that way? Shouldn't have given it to them IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!
Whatever problems that started the recession now pale in comparison to the government's response.

Meet the Newt
I just heard about this clip today, and thought I'd share/comment:
Hey Newt, way to completely lose your spine. So you want some of his policies "stopped", but you want Obama to succeed? What a ridiculous game of semantics. You know as well as anyone else who listens to Rush Limbaugh (if you still do and aren't completely taken in by the MSM) or, really, doesn't have their head firmly implanted in their nether orifice, knows what Rush means when he says that he wants the President to fail. He wants the President's socialistic, foundation-altering, and ultimately failure of a policy to not succeed in being implemented.
What you were doing on Meet the Press was pandering, plain and simple. Newt, these are the same people who for eight years vocally and vehemently railed against Bush and almost literally every move he made, even when he was acting in concert with the Dems! Now you refuse to stand firm and you throw Rush under the bus, calling him and those of us who agree with him irrational? Do you realize that this plays right into their hands, and creates an the image of a divided Republican party.
I guess the truth is that the Republican party IS divided. Call me irrational if you wish, but I want Barack Obama to fail. Moreso, I want the Democrats in Congress to fail. I want their policies to fail, I want their agenda to fail, and I want them to fail to win re-election in the coming years. I can say it with a straight face and a clear conscience.
How the hell is this something that a government "servant" feels he can say to a U.S. citizen!? The media should be calling Rangel to the carpet, and in droves. Guess what, Chuck? It is our business how you spend taxpayer money! It is our business if you're not paying your taxes!!
The very idea that you feel so confident in your position as a Representative that you can tell a citizen ON CAMERA that his questions are none of his business is proof positive that it is time for you and all your cronies to get the hell out of Washington. I'm not a fan of term-limits, because I think that citizens should be responsible enough to elect the right officials and continue to hold them responsible, but you're great evidence that the citizens of New York's 15th district are sleeping on the job. (Not to pick on them; there are Congressmen and women from all over the country who need to be reminded of what it's like to be private citizens).
It just pisses me off, man. If it pisses you off too, share the video. Let's get it out there that Charles Rangel now considers himself above the law and that he is not answerable to the American people.
Did Bush's administration ever do this? I am way too lazy to even start researching it, but somehow I doubt it. I can't imagine the mainstream media not jumping on them like starving vultures if they ever called out a private citizen. Now the press corps members are basically prodding Gibbs to criticize commentators and editorialists. At least he basically comes off sounding like an idiot.
Speaking of which, I watched one of my first videos of Obama off teleprompter today, and he didn't come off so hot. He can be eloquent when giving speeches, but answering live questions without something written down didn't work for him. Not that it really matters, but if it were Bush man, the press would be wondering how much of an idiot he really was and why he was avoiding the question and yada yada yada.
Time to be worried yet? I don't know. If people don't wake up and reject these guys in two years, we may have an issue. I am very uncomfortable having a president in office who despises the basis for our government and economy right from the start. You can't hate the people who built the economy and keep it working and lead them at the same time.

H.R.1 and Me
Apparently, the CEO of Caterpillar told President Obama that if the new stimulus bill is passed, that he will be in a position to re-hire some of the employees that they were forced to let go of last month.
More than 22,000 people were laid-off at Caterpillar in January.
So, my question is this: what exactly is it in this package that causes him to make this statement?
- Is it the temporary increase in benefits under the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program?
- Is it the amendment to the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996 to extend employment eligibility confirmation pilot programs?
- Is it the establishment of a Federal Coordinating Council for Comparative Effectiveness Research? (What does that even mean? Are they researhcing effectiveness?)
- Is it the investment in the infrastructure necessary to allow for and promote the electronic exchange and use of health information for each individual in the United States?
- Is it the increased unemployment compensation payments to individuals?
- Is it the requirement that the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) to develop and maintain a map showing where broadband service is deployed and available in each state?
Alright, alright. I know that Caterpillar sales will probably rise in the future as construction projects alluded to in a couple of the items in the bill begin to ramp up. If Caterpillar stock rises in response to the stimulus plan they may be able to get some of these people back. I just wanted to point out the insanity of some of these items in regards to the idea of a stimulus bill, which is supposed to be to get money out there immediately. It'll be neat, I guess to see on a map how crappy as a nation our broadband deployment is. By international standards, you can barely call what we have even in the fastest areas broadband.
Anyway, Congress is working on amending and merging the House and Senate bills into legislation for Obama to sign, so we could potentially have this thing as law before Friday. Maybe they'll get some 10Mbps internet connectivity out to my acreage in the next few years. Gotta look at the bright side, right?
I wonder if you can opt-out of having your medical records made digital? I'll have to see about that.
